I am delighted to welcome your child to Blue class and I am pleased to introduce myself, Mrs Davis as your child’s class teacher.
In honor of London hosting the Olympic Games this year we have decided to adopt the colors of the Olympic rings as class names for 2012.
Children with Mrs Davis will be Blue Class.

P.E in Blue Class
We will continue our weekly PE lessons every Monday and Tuesday with a focus on invasion games and throwing and catching games.
Please note that Mr Cairns will also teach P.E every other Friday morning, beginning on the first Friday back.
What we will be learning this term...
Literacy
We will continue to study and write a broad range of genres beginning with a four week topic on ‘dialogue and plays.’
We will continue to practise the following skills in all of our writing:
- Taking pride in our presentation.
- Punctuation (full stops, capital letters, speech mark, commas, question marks, exclamation marks and colons.)
- Joined up handwriting.
- Accurate spelling of familiar words.
- Using ambitious vocabulary to engage the reader.
- Using openers (Next, Then, After that, Finally etc) to begin new paragraphs.
- Using a wider range of connectives (although, but, so, because, however) to extend our writing further.
Numeracy
This term we will continue to practise the following skills:
- Problem solving
- Times tables (including using a grid method to multiply teen numbers)
- Division (with remainders)
- Partitioning / place value
- Addition and subtraction using a written method
- Measuring (including telling the time)
- Fractions
Science
Our Science topic will be ‘sound.’ We will be learning more about:
- The human ear
- How sound travels
- Pitch and volume
- Investigating how effectively sound travels through different materials
Geography/ History
We will be studying ‘Britain since the 1930s’ with a focus on:
- World War 2
- The Royal Family
- The Space Race
- Transport (British rail, Concord, Classic cars)
Design Technology, Art & Design
We will be studying the works of famous British Artists including:
- Bridget Riley
- David Hockney,
- Henry Moore
- Damien Hirst.
