Miss SteadI am delighted to welcome your child to Year 4 & 5 and I am pleased to introduce myself, Miss Stead as your child’s class teacher.

In honor of London hosting the Olympic Games next year we have decided to adopt the colors of the Olympic rings as class names for 2012.

Children with Miss Stead will be Red Class.

Topic Overview for 2012

We have a very exciting summer term ahead of us. Our topic is entitled ‘Sssh… Listen Carefully’ and I have based our learning around this topic area in the majority of subjects.

Please download a copy of the 2012 Topic Overview for Red Class (.PDF).

Homework

Homework will continue to be set regularly each week and will follow the same format. Homework will be given out every Tuesday as normal.

The children will continue to write their tasks in the front of their homework books. Children have one homework book for Literature Circles and a separate homework book for their additional task.

Weekly homework includes:

  • Literature Circles task and reading of chapters
  • Additional task, either: Spellings, Maths or Learning Log
  • Revision of Times Tables

In addition to Literature Circles work, I encourage the children to read other material at home for at least 20 minutes each evening. This should be for their personal enjoyment and interest. The children may choose their own reading book from the school library or from home, and complete their Reading Record each time they read their book.

Please sign the Reading Record when you hear your child read.

PE days in the Red Class

PE - Apparatus will be every Monday – indoor kit needed
Games will be every Friday – outdoor kit needed

Please ensure children have their PE kit in school all week. This helps to prevent children forgetting their kit. There may be some occasions when our PE slot is altered, and if the children have their kit in school all week it helps to avoid too many timetable changes.

Please ensure that your child brings the correct kit for indoor PE, as outlined in the school prospectus.
