Miss Keenan I am delighted to welcome your child to Year 5 & 6 and I am pleased to introduce myself, Miss Keenan as your child’s class teacher.

In honor of London hosting the Olympic Games next year we have decided to adopt the colors of the Olympic rings as class names for 2012.

Children with Miss Keenan will be Yellow Class.

Topic Overview for 2012

We have a very exciting term ahead of us. Our topic will be ‘Sssh…Listen carefully!’ and I have based our learning around this area in the majority of subjects.

Please download a copy of the 2012 Topic Overview for Yellow Class (.PDF).

Fronter Learning PlatformHomework in Yellow Class
Homework will continue to be set regularly each week and will follow the same format. Homework will be given out every Tuesday as normal. I would like Learning Log/Spelling/Maths homework to be handed in on the following Monday and other tasks are due in the following Friday.

Literature Circles homework needs to be in school on a Tuesday.

The children will continue to write their tasks in their homework books.

Weekly homework includes:

  • Revision of Tables
  • Literature Circles task and reading of chapters
  • Learning Log, Spelling task or Maths task.

In addition to Literature Circles work, I encourage the children to read other material at home for at least 20 minutes each evening. This should be for their personal enjoyment and interest. The children may choose their own reading book from the school library or from home, and complete their Reading Record each time they read their book. Please continue to sign the Reading Record when you hear your child read.
